Synthesis, Characterization, and Catalytic Activity of Porous Metal Oxides
Primary PI: Steven L. Suib
Our research involves the synthesis of new porous materials used in catalysis and adsorption. the types of catalytic reactions that we study are selective oxidations with a focus on small molecules like methane ad carbon dioxide. We are interested in environmental aspects of catalysts, using green reagents and making clean valuable products. This work involves synthesis of new materials, full characterization, and catalysis experiments. Sponsored projects are with NSF, DOE, ExxonMobil, and others.
Ceramic Matrix Composites
Primary PI: Steven L. Suib
Our area of research involves synthesis, characterization, and uses of ceramic matrix composites. This involves generation of oxidation resistant strong fiber reinforced materials. Sol gel, polymer impregnation,a nd chemical vapor deposition methods are being used. This are is funded through United Technologies.
